Statement of Mission

I fell into this because I couldn’t see anything else. I saw the darkness and felt the light, but then I sensed beauty. I saw things that it seemed other people were missing. And so I tried to capture that — I have tried to bring that which is so ignored, or simply glanced over, to the forefront, and not just another backdrop to life.

I would encourage all to embrace their senses, as to welcome the multitude of experiences forever happening around them.

What seems to fade into the background?

Once life starts and you realize you’re not really sure what you’re looking for — start looking.

    The collection

Grouped by category, piece by piece

Pieces are grouped together under the category designations from the catalog, and each piece stays separate inside its group — with its own photo, its own link (for example #piece-14), and its own enquiry. Tap any piece to see it large and choose a print size and framing.

Many uploads aren't listed twice: Piece 26 is the same image as Piece 14, Piece 21 is a phone screenshot of Poster 20, three Batch 4 uploads repeat earlier pieces (Batch 4-09 is Piece 27, Batch 4-10 is Piece 24, and Batch 4-11 is Piece 29), three more Batch 4 pieces proved to be exact copies of earlier ones — Piece 36 is Piece 07, Piece 37 is Piece 06, and Piece 38 is Piece 05 — two Batch 19 uploads are re-sends of Piece 23 and Piece 39, and Batches 20–22 re-sent Pieces 24, 25, 14 and 39 yet again — and Piece 110 twice over — so each of those images still appears once, under its first number.

    No pieces match that search.
Try a piece number (like 14) or a category word (like reflection or sunset).

Starting the show at 74 South Main Street

This is me curating the show — the beginning, not the finished exhibition. They are photographs of the show being made, separate from the individual artworks for sale above and from the finished show posters in the collection.

    About the artist

    Trevor Burns —
    Mindscapes in Major

My work starts out in the landscape around Marshall, North Carolina — moss and stone at ground level, skies and reflections, small figures staged among oversized greens — and I push it toward the surreal: faces in clouds, creatures in branches, colour turned all the way up.

My show Mindscapes in Major was held October 23 at 2 p.m. at 74 South Main Street, Marshall, North Carolina 28753. The four poster variants are grouped at the end of the collection.
